Why do you use WordPress?<\/strong><\/h6>\n

I use WordPress because it is both elegant from a programmer’s standpoint, and easy to explain to a layman.<\/p>\n

When and how did you get started using WordPress?<\/h6>\n

I got started using WordPress when I was the Web Development Community Guide with DICE.\u00a0 During my research I discovered that WP was the single most used development environment on the Web so I realized I needed to learn it.\u00a0 When I started learning it I was impressed with it’s elegance.<\/p>\n

What tips or resources would you recommend to a new WordPress user?<\/h6>\n

If you are an absolute beginner, I found a free (at the time) Kindle eBook on Amazon called “WordPress in a Week or Less” by Zak Cagaros.\u00a0 If you are an experienced programmer just getting started in WordPress I’d recommend going to WordPress.org and just diving in.\u00a0 I found the Linked In WordPress groups to be very helpful for getting a feel for what people are doing and thinking.<\/p>\n

What advice would you give someone who’s building a business around WordPress design or development?<\/h6>\n

If you are building a business around WordPress design or development – become an expert your customers can trust.<\/p>\n

How do you stay informed about WordPress (news, tips, etc.)?<\/h6>\n

I stay informed about WP in several ways.<\/p>\n

  1. Many of my colleges are core contributors and plugin authors, so at 10Up, it’s all WP all the time.<\/li>\n
  2. WP Tavern (obviously).<\/li>\n
  3. Lurking in the Linked In WP Groups.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
    What do you like most about WordCamps?<\/h6>\n

    What I like most about WordCamps is all the positive energy and the chance to get to help people.<\/p>\n

    What are you most looking forward to at WordCamp DFW?<\/h6>\n

    This is my first chance to speak at a WordCamp, so that’s what I’m looking forward to most.<\/p>\n
