WordCamp Dallas/Fort Worth 2019

Saturday, October 19, 2019

The organizers of the 2019 WCDFW are very excited to offer our WordCamp parents and guardians an opportunity to nurture our next generation of WordPress designers and developers at our inaugural KidsCamp!

Parents attending WordCamp can bring their junior website creators along and enjoy a day of parent-child learning under the guidance and support of some of our WordPress Experts. Sandi Batik, co-organizer of the Austin WordPress Meetup, and veteran of several successful WordPress KidsCamps will lead this year’s Campers.

The 2019 WCDFW KidsCamp is a hands-on, workshop-style class that offers kid-friendly lessons that will introduce your child to WordPress while working alongside other students. Our goal is to help kids learn or improve their real-world WordPress development and design skills. After the day’s sessions are complete, your child will leave with their very own WordPress site, hosted by our KidsCamp Sponsor, BlueHost.

Ages:

We are accepting children from ages 7 to 13 to participate in a full-day workshop-style WordPress class. Spots are limited to only 20 students — not including their parental sponsors.

Depending on the attendee’s existing WordPress skill sets, we are prepared to offer two (2) learning tracks for this year’s KidCamp. The first track designed for those who are new to WordPress and a second track for our more advanced students.

Getting ready for your child’s WordPress project

Interested WordPress parents/guardians will need to have a ticket for Saturday attendance purchased before signing up their junior creators.

A parent/guardian will be responsible for staying with their child during KidsCamp. Each child will need his or her own laptop to work on. A fun way to prepare your Camper for a productive day is to talk about what topics interest them and what they might want to call their blog or site.

Tickets

KidsCamp tickets are on sale now.

Each KidsCamp ticket provides your child with lunch, an afternoon snack, and full access to the day’s lessons. Both the parent/guardian and child need tickets. Purchase a Kids Camp only ticket for your child and General Admission or Saturday only ticket for the parent/guardian who will be staying with the child.

Also, if you have an older child ready to learn some advanced topics, they are welcome to join us for the WCDFW full sessions and workshops with a General Admission ticket. WCDFW is family friendly.
